The second of the six phases of planned works to the bridge at the entrance to Gran Alacant that connects Gran Alacant with the N332 started today.

During the second part, there will be not yet be any traffic diversions, but the workers will be carrying out structural rehabilitation on the lower section. The Gran Alacant Councillor for Infrastructure, Parks and Gardens, Paco Soler explained that there will be many improvements to the bridge including all lights will become LED and there will be landscaping of the surrounding gardens.

Mayor Yolanda Seva says the work was first identified in 2012 and she is pleased that the works have now begun, following various issues and problems previously. Also Paco Soler says there will be changes on the N332 from Santa Pola to the sign indicating the entrance to Gran Alacant on the N-332 which will say “North Santa Pola – Gran Alacant urbanization”.

The planned works have an expected duration of 4 months, with a completion deadline of June 15th 2016. Various detours will need to be made for access to the bridge during these works, although work will be suspended during Easter as it is a very time for tourists.
