On the weekend just before Christmas (December 17th – 20th), Alicante hosts a Christmas Market in the Plaza Gabriel Miro, just behind Alicante’s famous Explanada.
Alicate Christmas Market
The market is usually open from 11am to 2pm, and from 5pm to 9pm. To find Plaza Gabriel Miro, make your way onto Alicante’s Explanada running parallel with the sea front and then, about half way along, turn into the town.
The Plaza Gabriel Miro in Alicante is a lovely square with huge rubber plant trees and is filled with local delicacies of ham, sausages, jams, pickles, cheeses plus craft stalls featuring handmade wooden toys, jewellery, shawls, leather bags and belts with around 60 stands taking part.
Christmas Holidays In Alicante
There is plenty to do for the local children of Alicante as they are helped to write their letter to the Three Kings ready for their arrival in January, plus there are 16 workshops for them as well as a juggler, theatres and games. There is also be a live Nativity scene, of which part is a farmyard, with rabbits, donkeys, pigs, and geese wandering around the market. It’s a great place to visit if you are holidaying in Alicante or Gran Alacant at Christmas!
