Alicante has taken over as a favourite holiday destination for travellers heading abroad from some UK Airports.
Fly Belfast – Alicante
The popular Costa Blanca hotspot of Alicante overtook Palma in Mallorca and Malaga to take the No 1 holiday destination in 2016 from Belfast with 153,691 flights between Belfast International and Alicante across the year, which compares with 147,410 for Palma – which held the number one spot in 2015 – and 130,342 for Malaga.
Fly Manchester – Alicante
There were 807,153 Flights from Manchester to Alicante in 2016 – making it fifth place after Amsterdam (1,013,260), Dublin (978,649) Dubai (932,315) Tenerife (862,411). However it was rated 3rd most favourite for holiday destination as Amsterdam and Dublin were seen as ‘short city breaks’ as well as Amsterdam and Dubai both acting as ‘major transfer hubs. Alicante saw a particular surge in popularity, with passengers numbers to and from Manchester up 28%.
