British and Irish buyers are behind a surge in 2018 for property buying in Spain.
According to the latest report from the Association of Spanish Land Registrars, foreign demand increased by 11% to 17,338 sales in the 2nd quarter of 2018 compared to 2017, with the Brits and Irish behind the surge in foreign investment in Spanish property.
Despite Brexit looming, the British were still the biggest group of foreign buyers, making up 15% of the foreign market, which is almost double the size of the next biggest group – the French. And the Irish have returned with a vengeance, with demand for property in Spain from the Emerald Isle booming by 47%.
