QE3 docks in Alicante

On the 35th anniversary of King Juan Carlos I being sworn in as Spain’s head of State, another member of royalty, Cunard’s latest Queen Elizabeth docked in Alicante, on her inaugural visit to the historic city.

QE3 Docks In Alicante

Queen Elizabeth herself christened the ship on October 11, 2010 and this is now the 3rd ship to use the name, Queen Elizabeth.  The QE3 arrived in Alicante fully booked with 1,590 holiday guests aboard and carrying 980 crew. The ship was enjoying a day in Alicante after a night of rough seas coming up from Piraeus, before sailing for Southampton via Gibraltar. According to the Port Authority of Alicante, the arrival of the Queen Elizabeth was the 42nd visit of a holiday cruise ship to Alicante so far this year with 6 more scheduled to dock before the end of 2010.
