Spain Beats USA As 2017 Tourist Destination
Prime Minister Rajoy said 82 million people visited Spain in 2017, an increase of 9% over 2016 and earnings from tourism for Spain rose 12% to a total of €87 billion. In 2016, Spain welcomed 75.3 million visitors, just behind the United States with 75.6 million, according to the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Rajoy praised the Spanish tourism sector’s “great effort” to become more competitive.
