Recent figures show that Spain shattered Easter tourism figures forecasts this year.

Spanish industry experts said the record numbers were helped by the fantastic Spanish Easter weather, which encouraged last minute holidaymakers to make the most of the glorious Easter sunshine. All the coastal hotspots were pack, the strong results were not exclusive to them as cities and rural enclaves also saw a huge rise in visitors over Easter. Inigo de la Serna, Spain’s Public Works Minister said “Things could not have gone better and occupancy rates were up 10% on last Easter.” Figures released by industry group CEHAT shows Easter occupancy rates were between 85% and 90% in inland destinations, and 90% on the coasts. At least 2 million Britons traveled abroad for the Easter holidays, with the vast majority heading to Spain, and these figures come after a record breaking 2016 which saw more than 75 million holidaymakers visit Spain, spending more than €75 billion in the country.
