Two Craft Fairs In Alicante in December

If you are coming to Alicante during December, then why not visit one of the Craft Markets organised by AMATA the craft association during your stay?

Plaza De La Montaneta, Alicante

On the weekend of the 15th – 16th December, a small craft fair of around 20 different stalls will set up in the Plaza De La Montaneta in Alicante. Giving you the chance to find some really unusual and original Xmas presents, these stalls will create a festive feel to the traditional Nativity scene on the doorstep of the Alicante Tax Office. The Nativity scene, or Belen as it is in Spanish, does not only consist of what we would think of as the traditional Nativity scene with Mary and Joseph, but also features a whole small town with houses, farmers tending their crops, fishermen, shepherds, sheep, dogs, geese, women shopping etc.

Plaza Gabriel Miro, Alicante

From 20th – 24th December the same craft stalls, plus around 30 more, will set up in the Plaza Gabriel Miro, in Alicante around the fountain and under the massive ficus trees and there will be a live Nativity scene, farm animals, a miniature Ferris wheel, workshops for children and live music. These stalls offer everything from handmade candles, soaps, ceramics, wooden toys and puppets, shawls, handbags and jewellery. Everything here has been hand made by the participants locally in Alicante.

Plaza Gabriel Miro, Alicante

In addition there are live demonstrations by the craftsmen as well as a tavern selling roast meat, pancakes and drinks. Both Alicante craft markets will be open from 11.00-14.00 and 15.00-21.00. If you are staying in Alicante during December, be sure to visit one, if not both, of them for a traditional Xmas feel!
