Fiesta Time – Semana Santa – In Gran Alacant!
Wherever you go in Holy Week (18th – 22nd April) you will see parades and celebrations for Easter. One of the biggest processions takes place in nearby Santa Pola (just 10 minutes drive from Gran Alacant) on Friday 22nd April and the best Palm Sunday procession in our area is on 17th April in Elche. Gran Alacant Taxi Update
Two taxis will be permanently stationed in Gran Alacant at the Commercial Centre very soon. Great news for everyone!
Gran Alacant Sports Centre Update
An open day was held at the new Gran Alacant Sports Centre on Saturday 12th March to show the progress achieved so far. The 1st phase of the new Gran Alacant Sports Centre comprised of the seating and storage area and the 2nd phase, will be the building of two padel courts, two tennis courts, one football court, a petanca court and another sports court. The dressing rooms will be completed re-modernised and new boilers put in place, plus an enlargement of the parking area and gardens.
New Secondary School For Gran Alacant
The long awaited new secondary school has the go-ahead for building and now Santa Pola Council is just deciding on which of the two proposed sites in Gran Alacant it will be built on. Both sites are in Upper Gran Alacant, one opposite the Municipal Library or, an alternate site is further up Avenida Escandanavia, between the new Sports Centre and El Faro urbanisation.
GASP Theatre Group In Gran Alacant
GASP Theatre Group will be presenting 3 one-act comic plays; Mr Jenson Investigates, Wife Required and Halfway Up the Wall, at the Santa Pola Life Resort on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May. Curtain up at 20.00. Admission by programme/ticket priced at a ridiculously cheap €5, including refreshments at the interval.
MABS In Gran Alacant
MABS Cancer Support Group are holding a 4km fundraising “Walk For Life” fun walk on 10th April, starting at the El Clot Nature Park in Gran Alacant at 10.00. Please wear pink or a brightly coloured bra as prizes are being given for the best outfit!
