AENA, the Spanish airports operator is tendering 20 new retail shops within Alicante-Elche Airport.
20 New Shops At Alicante Airport
AENA says that 20 brands with proven track records have operated at the Alicante Airport terminal during the last 5 years and serve passengers flying to over 100 destinations, which is an average of 46,686 passengers per day with access to some 4,550sqm of retail space (excluding food and beverage outlets) And, as Alicante is Spain’s 5th largest airport, AENA/Alicante Airport management say that the shopping area of the airport will benefit even more from this expansion.
New Retails Shops For Alicante Airport
Of the 823,950 passengers that flew from Alicante Airport from January-September 2015, 43% were to the United Kingdom, 12% internal flights to Spain, 8% to Germany, 6% each to both Norway and Holland and the remaining 25% to other countries. The new contracts for the retail units will be for 5 years and will include fashion, news, books, confectionery and some ‘open retail spaces’ for which AENA is looking for new concepts from those interested. If all goes to plan, contracts are expected to be signed by January with a further 3 – 4 month plan evaluation before they are delivered to the successful bidders in April.
