Alicante-Elche airport has received 17% more low cost airline passengers in October 2013, accounting for 76.4% of all passenger travel in Valencia, totalling 455,244 passengers flying to Alicante-Elche from abroad. Over the whole of 2013, Alicante-Elche has seen a total of 3.2 million “low cost” passenger travels, demonstrating a 13% increase year on year compared to 2012.

This is a very welcome statistic to both Alicante-Elche airport and the Alicante area, with the Alicante-Elche airport alone being responsible for 56.5% of all air passengers in and out of the whole of Spain for budget travel, with Alicante-Elche airport now named as the 4th busiest airport in Spain, behind Barcelona El Prat, Palma and Malaga.
