From Thursday 30th April 2015 to Sunday 3rd May 2015, Alicante will travel back in time as the Alicante Medieval Market will be held in many of the streets and plazas in the historic area of Alicante.

Alicante Medieval Market – History

In 1296, King Jaime II incorporated Alicante to the Crown of Aragon and granted Alicante an annual fair with market. As part of the commemoration of the 700th anniversary, in 1996, the first Alicante Medieval Market took place. The Alicante Medieval Market now transforms the old part of Alicante into a colourful spectacle with adornment of the streets, old crafts workshops, concerts, shows, playgrounds, performances, demonstrations and product tasting. This wonderful scenic route also features street performances, puppet shows, concerts of ancient and medieval music, dance, magic and parades as you will see below and the Town Hall Square in Alicante will host the larger shows – with all of this completely free of charge.

Alicante Medieval Market 2015

2015 is the 19th year of the Medieval Market in Alicante and will be bigger and brighter than ever before with more than half a million visitors expected to visit the 100+ stalls. An action packed programme of entertainment is promised with the main activity taking place in Plaza San Cristobal, Plaza Quijano, Plaza de Santa Faz and Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the adjoining streets.
